It is believed that the use of a robe in the Western world has its routes in mid-17th century, was originally worn by men only and was called the "fig tree." "Bengal" The term encompasses many different styles of
that were popular among men aged 17 to mid-early 19 th Century.

Europeans began to adopt the clothing style and the influences of other cultures in Eary Century 17 and the banyan tree is the first example. It is believed that men adopted the design of the "Bengal" in Persian and Asian-inspired clothing (Banyan in Portuguese, Arabic and Gujarati 'Merchant' every sense).

At the time of mid-17th century popular inclination for the exotic and the oriental had become fascinated by the mainstream in Europe. This coincided, and could be attributed to the strengthening of trade routes with the Orient. Chinoiserie
style emerged as a popular trend. This French term meaning "China-esque" has become a recurring theme in European artistic styles. Chinoiserie reflects Chinese artistic influences. This penchant for the exotic and the East was a major influence on the success of the "Bengal", this name is the predecessor of the "bata".

Also described in the texts as a
, robe or nightgown camera, the fig tree was a loose robe to the floor. The style of the banyan tree in 1800 was the design of a simple kimono style "T-shaped" as shown below. Banyan is generally caused by the import of chintz fabric India despite that sometimes made of Chinese silk and French as well.
